for vintage clothing
Hello guys ! Here i am again to choose vintage as focus :) presenting some advices after having a chat with MaryJaneFashion.com friends and after my personal experience with vintage market and shops. Here some opinions for conducting a successful trip to a vintage clothes shop
I'm passionate about Vintage, i have different clothes or accessories bought in vintage market or shops and i really love them and use them in my daily looks, but as we know, Vintage shopping can provoke a number of
different reactions and many people don't know how to start to buy Vintage. In one corner, we have the avid, lifelong vintage shoppers
who can’t wait to get stuck into a pile of pre-loved clothing. In the other
corner, we have the shoppers who dread the thought of rummaging through someone
else’s clothing and prefer to shop their favourite looks on the high street or
in department stores. Then there are those in the middle, who like the idea of
vintage clothing but aren’t entirely sure how to go about it. I was in this
camp for a long time because it can be daunting dipping your toe into the vintage
pool for the first time. However, for what concern my point of view and what i've bought, once you take the plunge, it is definitely
worth it. You have to keep in mind the very real
benefits of investing in vintage clothing. Primarily, you will help yourself to
create a totally unique look. The clothes and accessories you find in best vintage
shops have often been carefully curated and, as a result, are of the highest
quality. You can find absolute gems in vintage shops from twenty or even thirty
years ago that you won’t find anywhere else, helping you to stand apart from
the crowd. Additionally, buying vintage clothing is great for the environment
because it is the ultimate project in recycling and sustainability. It's also a good choice for vegan that don't want buy leather accessories from new collections. We all know
that clothes cost a lot of energy to manufacture and ship, producing harmful greenhouse
gases into the environment. Privileging vintage clothing over new clothing
reduces the need and demand for new clothing, thereby reducing production and
the environmental impact that production involves. So when you’re standing
tentatively at the door of a vintage shop, remember these two very important
and, I think, empowering things: that this shopping experience will benefit
your unique individual look and it will also be a help to the environment, which
it’s our duty to protect.
You’re in the vintage shop now, faced with rails
and racks and towers of clothing. That familiar musty smell pervades and it is
at this point that many people are turned off. But don't be too scared, once you go home you can wash the items, sometimes the smell comes directly from the room where the clothes have been for decades. Let the amazing prints or gowns be more impressive that the smell ! Start to think about the sorts
of looks you want to create with vintage clothing. Vintage clothing lends
itself well to rocky and edgy looks, so why not look for pieces that will help
you to create a style that is slightly undone and rustic? Vintage shops are
great for finding statement denim and leather pieces: jackets, shorts and
skirts are your best picks and you can purchase them at significantly reduced
prices. You could then complement your denim or leather base with a top of some
kind. Vintage shops tend to have vast collections of classic band T-shirts and
sweatshirts that you can buy. If, however, you are of a more polished
persuasion, you can be sure to find a fantastic variety of luxurious jumpers.
In the eighties and nineties, metallic thread, oversized fits and punchy
colours were all the rage. Invest in these and pair with your favourite pair of
tapered trousers or over a pencil skirt with heels for an alternative yet
sophisticated look. After buying your bundle of vintage
clothing, inwardly celebrating how little money you’ve spent, how great you’re
going to look in your new/old gear and for helping to save the environment, I
would advise washing your clothes. This may sound pedantic and slightly OCD but
it's necessary. Vintage clothing by its very nature,
even though it is of a high-quality and incredibly durable, is old and will
potentially have had many different owners. Make your own mark on your clothes.
Wash them, customise them and then enjoy wearing them. Keep all your clothes and accessories with care, because one day they could be a vintage for tomorrow ;)

Considerazioni sul Vintage dopo una chiacchierata con le ragazze di Mary Jane Fashion sulle reazioni tipiche di fronte alle merci dei decenni passati, da qui il mio post :)
come sappiamo l' idea di fare uno shopping Vintage, sa provocare diverse reazioni. Persone alla ricerca di abiti che forse finiranno in altre pile di vestiti un tempo amati e ora dimenticati, ma che le attirano comunque, persone che al solo pensiero di cercare nel mucchio si spaventano e lasciano l' impresa per preferire i classici negozi. Ci si spaventa per l' odore di chiuso, che capirete è normale, ma le cose si possono lavare e se c'è un abito meraviglioso che è stato chiuso per anni in un armadio, non mi lascio scoraggiare da quell' odore di stantio, preferisco farmi affascinare dalle stampe e dalle stoffe. Nel mezzo , ci sono coloro che amano il vintage, ma non sono del tutto sicuri di come procedere per l' acquisto. Solo provando ad entrare in un negozio o accedendo ad una fiera potremmo scoprire come muoverci all' acquisto vero e proprio. Potremo capire i dettagli che fanno si che il vintage che abbiamo di fronte sia di buona o infima qualità solo osservando da vicino lo stato di vestiti e accessori, la loro pulizia, le loro cuciture. Per la mia esperienza però, una volta che si capisce come orientarsi la scelta di introdurre il vintage nell' armadio ha molti vantaggi.
Prima di tutto è un modo per personalizzare in modo unico vari look con creazioni difficili da trovare altrove, come una camicia degli anni '70 o una borsetta degli anni '90 che possono essere mescolate con grande creatività secondo le tendenze variegate di questi tempi. I migliori negozi, fiere e mercatini, presentano accurate selezioni di creazioni in buono stato e pulite, anche se a volte è possibile trovare chicche imperdibili nei mucchi piu' disordinati o in mezzo a vestiti un po' maltrattati come succede a Bologna o Lugo o Rimini. Si possono scovare preziose rarità dagli anni '20 fino agli anni '90, tra marchi scomparsi o famose griffe, rarità che potranno rendere speciale anche un look semplicissimo tutto sommato spendendo poco. Anche le borse piu' lussuose e celebri hanno un prezzo competitivo quando sono vintage e sicuramente verranno guardate con ammirazione per la loro unicità ! Il vantaggio è anche ecologico nel scegliere in vintage poiché diventa per esempio una scelta ovvia per persone vegane che non desiderano comprare nuove borse in pelle ma optano per quelle del passato per non pesare sulla produzione attuale richiesta di accessori, è anche una scelta per chi vuole "restringere" l' inquinamento della enorme attuale produzione dei vestiti e accessori di qualsiasi tipo.
Se a differenza mia non trovate nulla nell' armadio di mamme, nonne, zie , vicini di casa, non abbiate paura di iniziare la scoperta del vintage in un negozio o un mercatino. Cominciate per esempio dai gioielli, come orecchini, collane, spille, per poi passare a scovare borsette o giacche. A volte anche le scarpe si trovano del tutto nuove, rimaste intatte nei magazzini, e questo è possibile anche per abiti, cappotti, maglioni, jeans, gonne etc. Quel che dovete fare è sempre osservare come sono le cuciture di vestiti e accessori e se sono presenti macchie nei vari punti. Se il capo è rovinato o necessita di troppi aggiustamenti passate ad altro ma non spaventatevi subito! Il mercato vintage del resto è molto migliorato nella presentazione proprio perchè c'è una richiesta crescente del pubblico. Tornando alle tendenze attuali con i suoi molti revival, perchè non fare del vintage un occasione per trovare dei jeans perfetti a vita alta o dei caldissimi maglioni degli anni '80 ? C'è tutto un filone di appassionati di giacche da motociclista e tshirt dei concerti che nei vintage shops si sentiranno super stimolati nella ricerca ! Alla fine, se il vostro shopping sarà fatto con attenzione nella ricerca e nella scelta considerando ciò che vi serve o che vorrete fortemente sperimentare, avrete speso molto poco, per un prezzo da brand low cost avrete portato a casa un maglione ricamato, un cappotto meraviglioso o dei jeans introvabili. Quando portare a casa i vostri acquisti ricontrollateli, lavateli e se avete una fervida fantasia e le mani di fata, customizzateli con ricami e applicazioni. Infine godeteveli creando look inediti :) E non dimenticate di trattare bene tutti i vostri vestiti e accessori, poiché potranno essere un prezioso archivio vintage di domani :)
