ITA : JANS CONCEPT
Oggi voglio parlare di una leggenda e di un nuovo progetto entrambi nati in Alentejo, ma prima è necessario che io faccia una piccola intro, per farvi capire come ho scoperto queste cose.
C' è stato da subito un grande feeling con Lisbona e il Portogallo fin dai tempi del Progetto Leonardo, nel 2009, a tutto questo va avanti, noto che quella fiamma non si è mai spenta e quelle terre e quella gente non mi riescono ad essere mai indifferenti. Anche per tutto questo sono grata a quella vecchia decisione di partire. Sono anche grata per il fatto che i rapporti con gli amici , i colleghi , i titolari di allora, sono rimasti sempre vivi. Anche durante il recente viaggio, quando ho scoperto il nuovo progetto di Isilda Pelicano, la stilista presso cui lavoravo nella zona di Benfica.
IL PROGETTO E L' ORIGINE DEL NOME:
Il progetto si chiama JANS Concept . Jans nella tradizione della storia poppare dell' Alentejo, sta ad indicare il nome delle fate invisibili capaci di tessere stoffe per abiti senza i nodi. Secondo la leggenda, chi voleva un abito fatto dalle Jans, doveva lasciare durante la notte il lino e un dolce cotto sul focolare. Le magiche fate, una volta terminato di tessere, avrebbero portato con loro la leccornia come piccola ricompensa.
Isilda è stata affascinata da questa leggenda, dal nome delle fate, ed essendo una designer a cui è caro l' artigianato, i pezzi unici e i materiali preziosi, ha preso ispirazione anche da altri elementi delle terre dell' Alentejo, dove ha una proprietà. Jans Concept, è stato fondato da Isilda per promuovere una nuova idea di design, rendendo contemporaneo l' artigianato tradizionale di quella terra dai paesaggi meravigliosi ( ci sono andata nel 2009).
Un altra ragione che ha spinto Isilda in questo progetto, è stata l' idea di promuovere anche il lavoro delle comunità dell' Alentejo, aiutando la loro economia rurale. Questo è molto importante per la tutela delle unicità di ciascuna terra e per renderlo fonte di sostentamento.
LA BOUTIQUE:
La prima volta che ho visto la boutique Jans in Rua da Rosa 212, sono stata subito colpita da una bellissima blusa bianca, con una decorazione di un cervo stilizzato su di una trama ricamata a filet, che ricorda le tipiche tende delle case di campagna. Andando a vedere da vicino la blusa, ho visto che in realtà era feltro intagliato, e il filet era solo un effetto della lavorazione. Il risultato finale mi ha affascinato molto.
Una volta che avevo visto anche le altre creazioni e che Luis Pereira, compagno di Isilda, mi ha spiegato in portoghese tutto il concetto che sta dietro al progetto, alle singole scelte, ho compreso tutto il significato di Jans. La collezione, che non procede per suddivisione stagionale, proprio per il carattere artigianale, è suddivisa in vestiti, accessori, suppellettili come piatti e vasi, rivestimenti per arredi, come specchi e lampadari, pezzi di arredo per la casa. Alcuni dei materiali sono feltro, ceramica e sughero. Jans è un concetto di lifestyle completo dall' interior design al modo di vestire, una scelta di lusso controcorrente: non la griffe o i luccichii, ma bensì il pezzo unico e gli oggetti creati a mano come valore. Ogni pezzo è diverso dall' altro nei suoi dettagli, e i singoli oggetti sono prodotti in piccole quantità, tutto il contrario dell' industria moderna che molto spesso replica all' infinito anche le brutture.
Il prossimo passaggio per Jans, è quello di dedicare una parte del progetto al cibo, con il gusto e la qualità ineguagliabili dell' Alentejo. A proposito di cibo portoghese, posso raccontare di verdure, frutta, pane artigianale superlativi e ricette strepitose, posso elogiare la scelta di una agricoltura ancora libera da ogm, e posso solo raccomandarvi di provare quel cibo gustosissimo.
Quando tornerò a Lisbona, tornerò a rivedere la boutique, e sopratutto a trovare Isilda e Luis. Suggerisco anche a voi, di andare a vedere il negozio, e di fare una passeggiata nel Bairro Alto, nel caso in cui progettate di andare in Portogallo e nello specifico a Lisbona. Il Bairro Alto è luogo da non mancare per scovare i negozi più belli e per vivere la notte lisboeta.
Jans piacerà a chi ama la semplicità delle case di campagna e dei materiali grezzi, a chi preferisce il calore dei colori della terra rispetto alla freddezza di arredi da Star Trek. Piacerà a chi ama la natura e di ogni luogo vuole catturare un ricordo.
Se siete titolari di show room o boutique, o avete una casa che vi piacerebbe arredare con dettagli eleganti e semplici al tempo stesso o se semplicemente lavorate nel settore moda o interior design, potete considerare Jans una risorsa fresca per ciò che state cercando :)

" Nisa’s Museum of Embroidery and Clay" , uno strumento di difesa e valorizzazione del valore locale di di Nisa. Alcune delle tecniche di artigianato piu' note sono le particolari ceramiche e le tecniche di ricamo del feltro dette " Felt Appliqué technique".

Today i’m going to talk to you about a legend and a new project who both start in Alentejo, but before an introduction is necessary about the way i know them.
There is a special feeling with Lisbon and Portugal that still goes on after 5 years and make me happy about the old decision to leve for there. I really appreciate to keep up my relations with old friends, ex colleagues and ex bosses and the fact that those people still inspire me and teach me new things. In my recent travel to Lisbon i met all them and Paulo has introduced me the new project of Isilda Pelicano and Luis Pereira my ex bosses.
THE PROJECT AND THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME
The project is called JANS, Jans in the popular historical tradition of Alentejo, are the invisible fairies able to weave linen without knots. The legend tells that who wishes a dress weaven from those magic women, has to leave them a sweet baked in the fireplace, that the fairies take away once they finish their work.
Isilda has been fascinated by this legend and being a designer who work with artisanal techniques and precious materials , she also took inspiration by other elements from the lands of Alentejo, where she has a property. JANS Concept has been founded by Isilda to promote design and making contemporary the traditional craft from Alentejo.
Another reason for Isilda to found Jans , is to create work for artisans in Alentejo, and reevaluating its natural resources for an ethic economy. I do appreciate this aim , because i know very well how is important to make craft something to save and to make precious for every local community ;)
THE BOUTIQUE
The first time i’ve seen the boutique in Rua da Rosa 21, i’ve immediately noticed and appreciated a beautiful white blouse with a stylized deer decoration on a apparent typical filet weaving that usually we can see in countryside curtains.
Going close to the blouse i’ve see that the fabric was not filet but a piece of felt treated to look like filet.
Once i’’ve saw all the other creations, and Luis has explained me all the details about the materials and new ways to work them , i’ve figured out the complete sense of the collection, not organized by seasons, include clothes, accessories, home utensils as plates and jars, home decorations as forniture coverings. Some of the material are felt, pottery, cork. Jans Concept is a total lifestyle concept, from interior design to fashion items, a full choice preferring artisanal and unique pieces made in Portugal , in Alentejo and Lisbon . All about Jans is a new luxury idea, where luxury is represented by the unique pieces and the ancient techniques and materials mixed with innovative design. The emancipated luxury nowadays is uniqueness, not a super famous griffe. Every Jans creations is never alike another one, there are also details who make the difference among each piece, and the quantity of the items is never so big, as for the global industry.
Next step for Jans is to dedicate a part of its lifestyle to food, with the amazing tastes and quality from Alentejo. Talking about food i can say thanks my experiences , that all the vegetables and fruits in Portugal as the artisanal bread and typical recipes are unforgettable !
When i ‘ll come back to Lisbon , i will not forget to visit again Jans Boutique, and i suggest you, in case you are scheduling a trip in Lisbon or generally in Portugal, to have a promenade in Bairro Alto, ( place full of interesting stores and after evening the place to be for night life in Lisbon), where the Jans Boutique is situated, to enjoy its innovative and elegant fashion and design philosophy.
